Skim USA All-Star Team

The concept of the Skim USA Team emerged in 2007 and became an official program of Skim USA at the Annual Board of Directors Meeting in August 2008. The Directors of Skim USA Association wanted a way to further highlight the Association’s top amateur athletes by offering this elite group the opportunity to take their competitive skimboarding to a higher level through a team trip to an international contest, with an opportunity to support local efforts in the host country.

The All-Star Team will be named after the final contest on the Skim USA Tour, prior to the start of the new Skim Season. As an example. the 2022 SkimUSA All-Star Team was based on the 2021 tour.

Eligible Divisions

Boys, Jr. Men, Jr. Women, Men, Women

Team Selection Process

The process of selection to the Skim USA’s Team starts at the beginning of each Skim Season.

Each Skim USA Director has the opportunity to nominate individuals that might possibly be a candidate for membership on the team. The Skim USA All-Star Team is an elite group, and an athlete must be at the top of their game both in and out of the water to make the cut.

Here are the definitions of criteria:

Style

How you are perceived, how you carry yourself, the way you give back to the sport of skimboarding.

Attitude

Your beach and water attitude, your reception to constructive criticism, your attitude when asked to help out at contests

Performance

During the season the candidate must never have missed heat or mandatory judging rotation. The cumulative results of 4 trials are entered into the formula used to calculate each candidate’s Performance Ratio.

Amateur Requirement

A member must be an amateur competitor to be considered for the team and to attend the team trip. Any Pro declarations (verbal/social media/written) or participation in a Pro US contest disqualify a member from inclusion.
